The Body of Practice

With Claire Wilson & Roberto Rubalcava

A 6-Night Yoga Retreat at Lanka Yoga, Sri Lanka.

Two Paths. One Shared Practice.

11th - 17th April 2027.

The Body of Practice is a 6-night retreat on Sri Lanka’s south coast. It’s a week of practice, rest and reconnection held between the stillness of Koggala Lake and the warmth of the ocean air.

A rhythm of morning practice, spacious afternoons and slower evenings. Time for movement and stillness, ocean air and shared meals, deeper conversation and uninterrupted rest. A retreat designed not only for meaningful practice, but for the kind of week that leaves you feeling more rested, more present and more connected to yourself again.

Held by Claire Wilson and Roberto Rubalcava, this retreat is shaped by friendship, curiosity and a shared belief in the transformative power of practice. Together, they bring two distinct approaches to yoga; blending traditional teaching with embodied, relational practice in a way that feels grounding, supportive and deeply human.

The Experience

For six nights on Sri Lanka’s south coast, we gather in a slower rhythm of practice, rest and reconnection.

Mornings begin in the open-air shala overlooking the lake - meditation, breath and movement woven together through two distinct approaches to practice.

Some classes are steady, structured and precise. Others softer, slower and more exploratory.

Rather than offering a single perspective on practice, the week invites you into a wider conversation.

Across the week, you'll experience different approaches sitting alongside one another; offering multiple pathways into presence, awareness and connection.

Afternoons are left open for ocean swims, reading in the shade, treatments, conversation, journaling, exploring the coast or simply enjoying the feeling of having nowhere urgent to be.

Evenings gather more quietly through yin, restorative movement, embodied practices and shared dinners as the light softens over the lake. There’s space to unwind, settle into the rhythm of the week and simply enjoy being where you are.

Two workshops across the week offer space to go deeper; blending philosophy, practice and conversation in ways that feel grounded, accessible and alive.

This retreat is designed with care: a steady rhythm of practice, rest, good food, lovely company, conversation and time to settle more fully into yourself and the life around you.

Our Retreat Home

We gather at Lanka Yoga, a purpose-built retreat sanctuary set on the edge of Koggala Lake on Sri Lanka’s lush south coast.

Surrounded by tropical gardens, still water and open sky, the space invites a quieter rhythm from the moment you arrive; intentionally removed from the busier energy of the coast while still only minutes from the ocean.

You’ll stay in light-filled rooms overlooking the lake. Calm, comfortable and intentionally spacious, with private bathrooms, air conditioning and quiet details that allow for real rest.

We have exclusive use of the venue for the week: a beautiful open-air shala at the water’s edge, an infinity pool overlooking the lake, shaded spaces for reading and rest, and open communal areas designed for gathering slowly between practices.

Meals are shared, nourishing and plant-based, with local ingredients and fresh produce grown on the land itself.

Close to the ocean yet held away from the intensity of the coast, Lanka Yoga offers a quieter kind of immersion. A space where practice becomes part of the rhythm of everyday life.

The Practice

Throughout the week, practice is shared between Claire and Roberto; two teachers with distinct approaches, brought together through a shared care for presence, steady practice and thoughtful teaching.

Morning sessions are longer, energising practices weaving together meditation, breath and dynamic āsana.

Evening sessions are quieter and more restorative — yin, somatic movement, mantra, meditation and practices designed to support rest, softer evenings and the chance to unwind more fully into the week.

All practices are guided with options, spaciousness and support for different levels of experience.

At times, the teaching is precise, structured and alignment-based. At others, the practice softens into slower, more embodied exploration guided by sensation, nervous system awareness and internal rhythm.

Meet Your Teachers

Claire Wilson

Claire is a yoga teacher, retreat facilitator and founder of Of This Body. With almost a decade of experience teaching yoga and facilitating retreats across the UK and internationally, Claire blends movement, meditation, philosophy and nervous system-informed practice into spaces that feel grounded, warm and deeply human.

Her teaching invites steadiness rather than performance; creating room for people to move, rest, reconnect and soften back into themselves at their own pace.

Roberto teaches from a foundation of traditional yoga shaped by decades of experience.

His work brings clarity, structure and care through alignment, Sanskrit, mantra and teacher trainings; offering practices that are intelligent, steady and deeply supportive.

His teaching is precise without feeling rigid, creating spaces where students can refine their practice while remaining connected to themselves within it.

Roberto Rubalcava

The Body of Practice grew from years of friendship, shared retreats and an ongoing conversation about what practice is really for.

Although Claire and Roberto teach from different traditions and experiences, they are united by a shared trust in the practice. Through life's many seasons, yoga has remained a place to return to; offering steadiness, perspective and a way of meeting whatever life asks of us.

Across the week, their approaches sit alongside one another naturally, offering both structure and softness, precision and intuition, philosophy and embodied exploration. Rather than asking you to choose between them, the retreat invites you into the richness of both.

A shared practice that values presence over performance;  creating space to move, rest, learn, laugh, reconnect and spend a week a little closer to yourself.
